As an arts teacher I was asked to give a little demonstration of my work to visitors at a hobby fair, last Saturday. I had selected a beautiful flower arrangement made by my colleague, who teaches flower arranging, so that my ‘maybe interested’ students could concentrate on a lovely still-life and explore what they could do with chalk. But people were a little shy to take pastel and charcoal to hand, so finally I started drawing myself, to break the ice so to speak. And I found out I could actually draw on an easel again. Some of you already know I had broken my shoulder last year and therefore was unable to at first even lift my arm up, and later to keep it lifted up. This gave me so much pain that I started to be afraid to even try. But last Saturday, to my great relief, I was able to draw again, and now can safely say that I am back to making bigger drawings along with the tiny ones. So hopefully you will enjoy my quick sketch of spring.

And now back to Childhood Memories…
